About us

Welcome to Vom Seymour Kennel

My name is Joe Aumann. I’ve had dogs all of my life but got into bird dog training in 1990. I bought my first Deutsch-Drahthaar (Huskar vom Wiredhaus) back in 2003 and he proved to be an awesome dog, going through all of the Deutsch-Drahthaar tests and also the NAVHDA tests. He’s one of only a hand full of Deutsch-Drahthaars to be a versatile champion. I knew I was hooked after that. We now train and/or hunt dogs year around in Central Wisconsin. I’m also a field judge in the VDD which helps me evaluate young dogs and train them in the right ways. I have been through all of the Rick and Ronny Smith trainings, and promote their method of dog training.

When I made the decision to be a Drahthaar breeder I had to come up with a kennel name. Since I only wanted to breed dogs with a lot of talent, great coats and conformation, I decided “Seymour” was a good name. The name “Seymour” represents the ability to “see more” in your dogs. It took a while to find the right female but when I did, I knew that I had found a keeper. Bibbi v.b. Westmark. She had a ton of talent with an awesome 11 coat and 11 conformation. She also had a very good temperament and was very cooperative, which makes for a very trainable dog. Our goal is to produce awesome hunting dogs with a sound mind. Bibbi was also one of the elite to earn her Versatile Champion title and has been a huge part of making Vom Seymour Kennel into what it is today! We are located in Central Wisconsin and hunt mainly grouse and woodcock, but also mix in some duck and goose hunting. I have several dogs trained for blood tracking and shed hunting as well. If you purchase a puppy from me you are sure to get a talented dog that is well socialized. Thanks for considering Vom Seymour Kennel as your preferred Deutsch Drahthaar breeder.
